If you’re anything like me then you’re probably starting to lose your mind being stuck at home so much during this period of self-isolation. I have plenty of work to keep me occupied and I’ve been spending a lot of time reading, walking my dogs, and ingesting as much media as I can possibly consume without my brain going to mush. A lot of what I’ve been watching has been on Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming services, but I’ve also been scouring YouTube for entertainment. There’s plenty – trust me.
If you don’t actually know who I am, my name is Craig and I’m the Producer of the DIS Unplugged and Multimedia Content for the DIS. I’m going to use this as a daily update to not only let you know what videos we have available on our channel, but also to provide some insight into what I’m watching that isn’t on our channels. If you’re not subscribed to The DIS or DIS Unplugged on YouTube, please make sure to do so for the latest Disney videos!
Today’s DIS Unplugged Video
Today on the DIS Unplugged, we live streamed our Walt Disney World Edition and it went pretty well. We normally start at 1:00 pm, but today we were having all sorts of issues leading up to the start and that caused us to start at 1:15 pm. My internet wasn’t pulling good download speeds to bring in everyone to the conversation. John and Kevin tested their equipment ahead of time and then nothing worked when we needed it to. Still, it was a fun show and it saw the return of John for the first time in a live show since we started these coronavirus shows.
Today’s DIS Video
Today on the DIS, we are featuring a Disney Park Bench video that I shot on the last day I visited the parks before I decided to quit going because of coronavirus. This is the first Disney Park Bench I’ve ever shot in Pandora – The World of AVATAR! I don’t know why it took me so long to do so, but it felt long overdue. Anyways, I’m okay with this DPB, but not blown away. I set up right outside of Na’vi River Journey looking at the floating mountains for a stunning view, but a lot of people were stopping in front of the camera, because of where I was in proximity to the attraction. The main thing I learned – even with wide-angle lens, it’s hard to get that money shot inside this land for a video like this.
Today’s Disney Find
I am a huge fan of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Aulani, and tiki culture along with Walt Disney Animation, so today I’m going Hawaiian with my choice. Maybe it’s that I’ve been drinking water out of my tiki mugs nonstop for the past couple of days, or maybe it’s that I just watched this short on Disney+ the other day and can’t get it out of my mind, but today I’m sharing one of my favorite Mickey Mouse shorts – Hawaiian Holiday!
I think it’s perfect, because it has a little bit of everything. Mickey Mouse? Check. Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy? Check. Amazing music? Check. Beautiful artwork? Check. Funny gags and antics? Check. If you haven’t seen it before or haven’t watched it in awhile, give it a shot!
Welp, that’s it for today’s picks. I don’t think I gave you too much homework to do and if I didn’t give you enough then the good news is tomorrow is just a day away. Happy watching!
