Disney Confessional: A Series of Unpopular Opinions Part 7 Series of unpopular options 7

It’s been a long time since our last visit to this topic. We are talking about A Series Of Unpopular Opinions, and I’m ready to share five more of my Disney confessions with you at the risk of being judged. Remember to read my explanations, as some aren’t as cut and dry as they might sound at first. Are you ready to get started?

Magic Kingdom Is My Skippable Walt Disney World Park

Before you come for me with your pitchforks, just listen to my reasoning. I am a lucky girl who gets to spend more than my fair share of time in Disneyland. So when it comes to visiting Walt Disney World, where I am usually on a smaller time budget, I often have to prioritize my experiences, and not all make it onto my list. With Disneyland as my home park, Magic Kingdom has the least unique draw for me of the Walt Disney World theme parks, and I prefer to spend time in EPCOT or Disney’s Animal Kingdom if I’m pushed to choose.

Different Flavors Of Dole Whip Are Wrong

Again, my roots play a part in this one as well. I grew up with the taste of Dole Pineapple whip, straight from the plantation on O’ahu firmly fixed in my mind as one of my ultimate delights. I’ve not yet missed an opportunity to enjoy it. So when it comes to some of the flavored creations I see emerge in Walt Disney World, it all just feels a little bit wrong. Dole whip should be pineapple flavored! Not orange or any other ridiculous, wrong flavor; pineapple!

I Don’t Think the Next Disney CEO Needs to be a Woman

Ever since theories emerged that Dana Walden might be a contender for the top spot, I’ve seen a few arguments rolling around the internet with the idea that the next Disney CEO needs to be a woman. Some say ‘equality,’ others say a woman would do a better job, and I can’t help but think the whole thing is ridiculous. The right person will do a better job; a candidate who is good for the position will do a good job. This isn’t defined by that person’s gender. The next CEO of Disney doesn’t need to be a woman any more than it needs to be a man. If Walden is perfect for the position, that’s great; it won’t have anything to do with being a woman. I love myself some feminism and equality, but to me, this weird insistence doesn’t fall under either of those.

I Love Live-Action Disney Movies

Yep, I said it! I like Disney’s live-action remakes. I’m not saying they are better than their original animated versions, but I can’t say I don’t love them just the same. They are absolutely beautiful. Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and, of course, Aladdin; these movies were visually stunning, with sets, costumes, and choreography that always leave me in awe. I love them, and while I also love original storytelling, it’s incredible to see these characters come to life in a completely different way with live-action.

I Still Use A Paper Map

Even with all my years of Disney going, I still routinely get myself a map on arrival. While I don’t really need it, I could go through these parks with my eyes closed; there is something about it that helps me plan out my day. I love looking at it while we quickly take a break for lunch, thinking about my next moves and what I want to achieve. It helps me gather my thoughts. Honestly, I can’t imagine a time when I don’t walk around with a map in my backpack.
