Good Morning, everyone, and happy Monday to you! Times are quite different from anything we are used to right now with many folks having to cancel their much-anticipated Disney vacations in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Today is the first day of a new column here at the DIS where, twice a day, we’ll be sharing our thoughts on a recent news story, what we’re looking forward to or have experienced in the Disney theme parks, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Disney+, or even movies, or books we’ve enjoyed during this period of “social distancing” where people across the country have been advised to stay home.
Something I saw on Twitter over the weekend that really warmed my heart was Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf in Disney’s Frozen and Frozen II, starting his own book club. Now, it’s not your typical book club since the world is basically shutting down due to Coronavirus, but it’s Gad himself live reading a story live. Think about that for a second – the voice of Olaf reading a story aloud! He’s been doing this every night and it might just be the cutest thing I’ve seen during this whole conundrum.

Aw. Love this! Thank you for sharing. And yes, the rumors are true. Join #GadBookClub every day as we gather round and read a book for the kids as you parents take a long needed break or for you parents as you kids take a long needed break. Love you all. Stay safe. Everyone has been told to practice “social distancing” and to stay home. Shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, beaches, state parks, and more have shut down as to not allow groups of people to be near each other. Even worse, schools have closed down as well leaving kids with nothing much to occupy their time. Hanging out with friends is also not an option right now so it’s making for some tough discussions at home.
The cool thing about what Josh Gad is doing is that it’s just him, in his home office from the looks of the background, going out live on social media for half an hour or so. It doesn’t cost him a thing and it’s bringing so many families something to look forward to every night. In fact, folks are tweeting at him with recommendations of books they’d like him to read!
I’ve shared the last two nights of storytime and if you search the hashtag #GadBookClub, you’ll find the rest.
