If you were among the many who watched the first episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+ yesterday, you might’ve caught a few Easter eggs that were sprinkled throughout the debut installment of the show. If you haven’t watched the episode and don’t want to know about a spoiler, you might want to stop reading now.
One hidden treasure in particular was likely to stand out if you’ve been hanging around the Star Wars universe for a bit. In one scene, a fellow bounty hunter mentions to Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian that he was hoping to be home in time for Life Day to spend time with his family.
The reference to Life Day stems from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special that introduced Life Day as the Star Wars version of Christmas. Life Day is celebrated on Chewbacca’s home planet of Kashyyyk, and is a time to gather and feast with family. The Star Wars Holiday Special originally aired on CBS, and lives on in all its glory on You Tube.
I personally loved the wink and nod from director Jon Favreau regarding Life Day, and I can’t wait to see what other Easter eggs he hides for fans in upcoming episodes.
