Have You Ever Spotted a Celebrity at a Disney Park?

One of the funniest things about visiting the Disney theme parks is how quickly everyone suddenly turns into a detective the second they think they may have spotted someone famous. You’ll hear the whisper travel down the walkway almost instantly.

“Wait… is that…so and so?”

And honestly, sometimes it actually is who you think it is.

Disney Parks have always been a magnet for celebrities, especially at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Some are there with their families, trying to blend in behind their sunglasses and baseball caps. Others are there for major media events, attraction openings, or special celebrations. Either way, there’s something weirdly fun about seeing a famous face standing in the same churro line as everyone else, albeit not often, as they’re typically with a VIP Tour Guide.

That conversation is popping up again this week after several celebrities showed up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to celebrate the official opening of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, which debuted today, May 26. Disney recently shared photos from the event featuring John Stamos, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Darren Criss alongside members of The Electric Mayhem.

And honestly, this particular group is very on-brand for The Muppets.

John Stamos has basically become unofficial Disney park royalty at this point. The man shows up everywhere. And who doesn’t love his unapologetic obsession with Disney? I know I do! And his wife is the cutest thing ever with her Disney Bounding creations!!

Meanwhile, Yvette Nicole Brown is one of the most openly enthusiastic Disney fans in Hollywood, and Darren Criss feels like someone who fits naturally into the chaotic, musical energy Disney has built around this new version of the attraction.

The updated coaster officially replaced the former Aerosmith version with a brand-new Muppets storyline centered around The Electric Mayhem racing across Los Angeles to make it to their concert on time. The attraction also includes celebrity cameos throughout the queue, with appearances from stars including Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Neil Patrick Harris, Wayne Brady, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Travis Barker, and more.

But celebrity sightings at Disney theme parks have become part of the culture far beyond official events.

Sometimes it’s obvious. Sometimes Disney itself posts the photos. Other times, guests randomly spot celebrities riding attractions, grabbing snacks, or trying very hard not to be noticed while walking through Fantasyland with their kids.

And somehow, people always notice.

There’s also something kind of perfect about celebrities at Disney, specifically because most of them end up just like everyone else. They’re buying popcorn buckets. They’re wearing Mickey ears. They’re trying to survive Lightning Lane return windows. Disney parks have a way of getting everybody into the same excited vacation mode.

So now I have to ask the question again because Disney fans always have the best stories:

Have you ever spotted a celebrity at Walt Disney World or Disneyland? And more importantly… did you say hello or pretend to play it cool?
