When I watch a Disney movie for the first time, I never think much further than the moment I am enjoying it. However, for some of my favorites, I’ve grown quite fond of the anniversary celebrations that Disney has begun to commemorate regularly. It sounds silly at first, but the anniversary of a movie? However, when it gives fans the opportunity to relive the magic of the characters, and revisit the storytelling of Disney, it’s actually kind of cool. Now, of course, the limited-edition merchandise and sometimes limited-time treats and snacks don’t hurt either.
This summer, there are quite a few of these anniversaries coming up, and we can’t wait to see more of what Disney has in store for them. From character appearance to specialty treats, we can envisage there being a few occasions to add some extra magic to the Disney Parks! Let’s take a look at some of the Disney films and characters that are celebrating significant birthdays in the next few months.

- Donald Duck’s 90th
- Tarzan (25th)
- Toy Story 4 (5th)
- The Lion King (30th)
- Guardians of the Galaxy (10th)
- Mary Poppins (65th)
We are already looking forward to the special merchandise release for Up that will be coming on May 29th at 8 am PT. And we simply can’t get enough of the merchandise previewed so far for Donald Duck’s 90th birthday, coming up on June 9th. I expect that snapping a selfie with the D-Man will be quite popular in the parks that day as well! However, we are looking forward to hearing more about what might be on offer for The Lion King‘s 30th anniversary on June 23rd, the Guardians of the Galaxy‘s 10th anniversary, and Mary Poppins‘ 65th anniversary on August 29th.
