It’s been just over a week since the new Disney hit Moana 2 journeyed into theatres, and the response has been overwhelming. Earlier this week, Forbes reported a staggering headline, ‘Moana 2 Grosses $389 Million — Highest Global Box Office Debut For An Animated Movie,’ proving that audiences were on board with a Disney sequel after all. Of course, I saw this movie as soon as it came out, and while I could have done with a little less goo, overall, I loved that the theming of this movie remained true to the first but with a unique twist that explored clearly different creative influences. One unmistakable constant is the standout work of Auli’i Cravalho, who brings Moana to life once more as she finds her way through the next phase of her wayfinding journey.
