We’ve all seen the details of the new Princess and the Frog-themed attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and I can’t believe it will be arriving in Magic Kingdom this Summer. It’s clear that the creative minds at Disney Imagineering have spent a lot of time working on this attraction conceptually long before its announcement. The attention to detail and focus on true-to-New-Orleans elements such as music and the natural environment are already turning heads, gaining respect for the effort that is being invested into creating an authentic, immersive experience.
The storyline for this attraction deviates from the tale of the movie where we first met these characters. Unlike other movie-based attractions such as Frozen Ever After, the overarching storyline isn’t the one we are familiar with but instead a continuation of the journey these characters started. We are about to be invited on a new adventure and introduced to new characters that will tell their own unique story through the attraction. However, I can’t help but wonder if Disney is really willing to let all of this work go ahead without creating a corresponding sequel that could share that work with a broader audience.
Everything about this ride will feel unique, from the themes to the costumes and even an exciting new soundtrack that will have some new tracks created just for the attraction. But will it really end there? I can’t help but hope we might see them pull a similar trick as they did with Moana 2, announcing a short-notice release of a sequel to tie it all together. What do you think? Will the new attraction inspire a second film for Tiana and her friends?
