Celebrating A Birthday at Walt Disney World

If you’re looking for a special way to celebrate a birthday at Disney World, there are a number of options to choose from.

Birthday Fireworks Cruises

For a memorable celebration, you can book a fireworks cruise for either Epcot's or the Magic Kingdom's nightly fireworks. More Info

Birthday/Special Occasion Cakes

Disney Restaurants:

A Mickey Mouse celebration cake is available to order at any Walt Disney World Resort owned-and operated table-service restaurant. The cakes will be available in decadent chocolate or sweet white chocolate with a special message of “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” written on the Ears. Each cake serves 4 to 6 guests at a cost of $35 (plus tax and gratuity – subject to change at any time). Pre-payment is not required, but reservations for the cake should be added to your existing dining reservation in advance, as day-of quantities are limited.

For a special occasion, you can pre-order a cake that’s customized to your group’s taste and style. Custom-designed cakes are available at select Disney restaurants. Special dietary needs cakes are also available by calling the Cake Hotline: at (407) 827-2253. It is recommended that you call at least 72-hours in advance of your reservation.

Free Birthday Perks at Disney World

  • Inform cast members/Travel Agent when you book your reservation that it is a Birthday celebration and provide them with the name and age of the Birthday child.
  • Let your resort know when you check-in. Sometimes they will do something special for your child ranging from autographed character pictures to balloons in your room. This does not always happen, but we have heard of many instances where it has.

  • Make sure your child has an Autograph Book when they wear the button. They will receive special Birthday greetings from the Characters.
  • Tell the server about the Birthday at all meals on this day. They will [sometimes] bring a decorated cupcake to the table (sit-down dining only) with a candle in it.
  • If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, contact the front desk upon your arrival in your guest room to request a special birthday phone call for your child from a Disney Character.
  • Purchase a passport in EPCOT to have stamped in each country around the World Showcase and make sure the cast members who sign it know it’s your child’s Birthday. They will receive Birthday greetings in many different languages.
