Aerophile Temporarily Closed in Preparation for Hurricane Irma

Aerophile (previously named Characters in Flight) the observation balloon ride in Disney Springs will be closing in preparation of Hurricane Irma. This is the first major impact or closure at Walt Disney World in preparation for the storm.

Although the storm isn’t expected to hit until Saturday or Sunday, September 9th or 10th, the reports are that the crew needs time to safely secure the balloon to the dock.

It is currently unknown when Aerophile will be operational again, but it will most likely open as soon as the storm passes, and the Disney Springs operations team deems it safe.
