It’s possibly one of the most well-known attractions in Disney theme parks, with five different iterations around the globe; Pirates of the Caribbean. The ride can be found in Disneyland in Anaheim, California; the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida; Tokyo Disney Resort; Disneyland Paris; and Shanghai Disneyland.
While most of us are still recovering from the controversy of Redd and the changes made to the original Bride Auction scene, now featuring a female pirate leader as she oversees the villagers while selling their items, there seem to be a few more changes quietly slipping under the radar.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me; we all know how it goes. In fact, most of us have probably been on this attraction countless times and know every square inch of its scenery and characters; or do we? Guests have begun reporting that some of those beloved animatronics from Disneyland’s original attraction have mysteriously been removed. Back in November, we noticed that Old Bill was missing from the ride, followed by the removal of the iconic dog animatronic. Now, guests are questioning the latest disappearance in this mysterious turn of events; the cats have also disappeared!
While there is no official word on where the characters have gone and if they will return any soon, most guests are speculating (or hoping) that they are simply out for refurbishment. These changes have been made in Disneyland’s version of the attraction though guests have also noticed minor decor and character attire adjustments occurring in Walt Disney World as well.
