A young eland named Doppler, who was born in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, finally made his official debut on the savanna of the Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The young calf and his mom spent the morning exploring and playing in the savanna.
Doppler even got to meet some of his neighbors.
Clover and his mom, Clover, have been bonding backstage and over the course of two months he has nearly doubled his 70 pound birth weight. While he continues to nurse, he has also found some new favorite foods in lettuce, carrots, and sweet potatoes.
When fully grown, Doppler will reach 8-feet-tall, which legs powerful enough to jump as tall as he is.
Doppler and many of the other animals born at Animal Kingdom are part of a special survival plan partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
