California Adventure to close Luigi’s Flying Tires

After much rumor and several changes to the refurbishment schedule, the Disneyland Resort has finally confirmed that Luigi’s Flying Tires, which opened with Cars Land in 2012, will close for good on February 16, 2015.

A completely new attraction, featuring a new ride system and ride vehicles, will opening in the same location in early 2016.

While no other information was provided about the new ride system, several sources, including the LA Times, are speculating that it will be a trackless system that has been used at Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.
