Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month is coming up from September 15 to October 15, 2024, and Walt Disney World has shared details on six new and returning ways to participate in the celebration.
Dance with the Familia Madrigal
It’s official: the limited-time ¡Celebración Encanto! sing-along show has been extended so fans of the Walt Disney Studios film can dance, sing, and celebrate with Bruno and Mirabel at CommuniCore Plaza Stage. The show features beloved characters and songs from the film, along with fun trivia to test guests’ knowledge of all things Encanto. The show is performed several times daily, so check the My Disney Experience app for details.
An Unforgettable Mariachi Experience
The beautiful traditional sound of Mariachi arrives at EPCOT on September 15. Mariachi Cobre will perform on select days and times in the Mexico pavilion for a limited-time experience. A familiar friend might stop by to enjoy the performance, so guests should remember to be on the lookout.
Life Imitates Art
Hispanic and Latin American countries are filled with so many diverse cultures, each with its own forms of art that define and celebrate traditions. Here are some ways Walt Disney World will showcase these customs.
In honor of the month and available year-round, Disney Springs’ Art Walk will continue to flourish with a new mural addition featuring beautiful motifs live-painted by Nicole Salgar, a Miami-based artist that depicts her Latin roots in all her work. With a passion for sci-fi and folk art, her murals challenge viewers’ perspectives with an emphasis on experimentation. Seeing this new mural is a must-do experience.
Guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park can learn to draw Dante from Pixar Animation Studios’ Coco and meet Hispanic Pixar animator Ana Ramirez at The Animation Experience at Conservation Station.
Art of Disney at EPCOT is where art enthusiasts will find paintings, limited-edition prints, figurines and more, with Artist Spotlights highlighting work created by Hispanic or Latin American artists. Artists this year will include Pixar talent Gaston Ugarte, Ana Lacaze and Luis Uribe.
Food for the Soul
During the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival, guests can enjoy Hispanic and Latin dishes at Global Marketplaces throughout the park. They will also discover treats across the Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Resort hotels. Disney says that the official Foodie Guide to Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month will be released later this month.
Shopping
Guests will find a wide variety of merchandise that pays homage to Disney’s Hispanic and Latin American-inspired characters available at Walt Disney World Resort. A new collection of merchandise inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Coco will be available just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month.
