An Oakland, CA couple decided that they wanted to get married in their favorite theme park, but didn’t want to pay the huge amount Disney would have charged, so they secretly put together a plan to have their wedding, including 25 guests, in the middle of Disneyland Park.
Lex Emmanel and Emily Rose chose to get married in Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, not for a particular love of the Tiki Room, but because there’s a four-minute window between when the doors open and when the show begins. The couple figured that their quick ceremony (vows, ring, kiss) would take under 90 seconds, leaving a bit of time for pictures.
Rose wore an inconspicuous cream-colored dress and Emmanuel chose a white “Miami Vice”-style suit, both hoping to avoid any extra attention.
The entire party assembled for a pre-wedding Dole Whip, then when the doors opened, the wedding party rushed to fill up one section of seats.
People were starting to notice that something unusual was going on, but the officiant moved things along and the wedding went off without a hitch. After it was over, the officiant said, “This is the beginning of an awesome story.”
