Creators of ‘Lion King’ Surprise Guests At ‘Festival of the Lion King’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Voice Actor Ernie Sabella (Pumbba), Producer Don Hahn, and Co-Director Ron Minkoff surprised guests this past weekend at Disney’s Animal Kingdom during a performance of the “Festival of the Lion King” in celebration of the re-release of the original 1994 film. Sabella was brought out before the show began to give guests a warm “Hakuna Matata!”

After the visit, the creators gushed about the performance and how much they love the African cultural elements that have been incorporated into the festival, which was vital to them during the creation of the film.

“Borrowing from so much great culture that exists in Africa, not only musically but visually, was something we certainly did for the film and to see it translated into a live show is terrific,” Ron said.

The Lion King: The Walt Disney Signature Collection is already available on digital and arrives on Blu-Ray/DVD on August 29.
