Disney came out of 2016 with the top three highest grossing films of the year. Finding Dory came in first with $486 million, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story follows with $438.8 million, and number three is Captain America: Civil War with $408 million.
What’s astonishing about those numbers is that Rogue One was only open for 16 days in 2016 and is still in theaters, so its overall numbers will just keep going up. Finding Dory was released June 17, 2016 and Captain America: Civil War was released May 6, 2016.
2017 looks to be another successful year for Disney with the releases of Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Cars 3, and Star Wars: Episode VIII, among others.
