Disney Junior Announces Beginning of Production on ‘The Rocketeer’

Disney Junior has just announced that they’ve officially begun production on a new animated adventure series for young kids about The Rocketeer! The series is inspired by Dave Stevens’ popular comic book and is set to debut on Disney Junior in 2019.

The show will follow Kit, a young girl who has been given a birthday present which reveals that she’s the next Rocketeer, a famous superhero who takes to the air with the help of a jetpack. Kit assumes her new secret identity alongside her best friend Tesh and her uncle Ambrose and together, they begin on a series of fearless ventures.

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Joe D’Ambrosia said in a statement,

“We are very excited to introduce The Rocketeer to our young Disney Junior audience. The vast storytelling found in the original comic books provides the perfect opportunity to create an exciting new adventure series told from a young girl superhero perspective that the whole family can enjoy together.”

The show is geared toward children ages 2 to 7, and each episode will feature one original song and a pair of 11-minute stories.
