The Walt Disney Studios is reportedly in the very early stages of development for a third Tron movie. The Hollywood Reporter stated that Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is being considered for the lead role if the project indeed moves forward. In 2016, Leto played the Joker in the supervillain film Suicide Squad.
You may remember that Tron 3 was nearly finished with its pre-production stages when Disney canceled the project back in May of 2015. The original 1982 film was set inside a computer program, a cyberspace called the Grid. Disney revisited the world with Tron: Legacy back in 2010.
No further information is available at this early stage, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear anything.
