Disney Musicals in Schools to Add Five New Cities to the Outreach Program

Seven years ago, Disney started Disney Musicals in Schools, a free outreach program designed to allow the children from “under-resourced public elementary schools” to perform in a Disney musical written specifically for young children. This program allows schools free performance rights to Disney titles including Aladdin, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh, Aristocats, Cinderella, and 101 Dalmatians. This program started in New York City back in 2010; it has now expanded to 12 more cities around the country including:
  • Nashville, TN (Tennessee Performing Arts Center)
  • New York, NY (Disney Theatrical Group)
  • Las Vegas, NV (Smith Center for the Performing Arts)
  • Orange County, CA (Segerstrom for the Performing Arts)
  • Seattle, WA (Seattle Theatre Group)
  • Bay Area, CA (Bay Area Children’s Theatre)
  • Cleveland, OH (Playhouse Square)
  • East Lansing, MI (Wharton Center for Performing Arts)
  • Newark, NJ (New Jersey Performing Arts Center)
  • Boston, MA (Boston Children’s Theatre)
  • Madison, WI (Overture Center for the Arts)
  • Omaha, NE (Omaha Performing Arts)
  • Orlando, FL (Dr. Phillips Center for the Arts)
These are the five new cities that will be included in the program this year:
  • London, England (Eastside Charitable Trust) –First international location
  • Louisville, KY (StageOne Family Theatre)
  • West Palm Beach, FL (Kravis Center for the Performing Arts)
  • Chicago, IL (Goodman Theatre)
  • Los Angeles, CA (Center Theatre Group)
