Disney Theatrical Productions has “chosen to go in another direction” in regards to their upcoming Broadway production of “Frozen,” so director Alex Timbers has left the production.
Thomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical described the decision as “especially painful.”
Timbers has worked with Disney before as co-director on “Peter and the Starcatcher,” but his edginess may not have meshed well with the big-budget spectacle that is “Frozen.”
No replacement has been announced for Timbers, so the current production schedule could be in jeopardy. “Frozen” is scheduled to open in Denver for a pre-Broadway run in summer 2017, with a spring 2018 Broadway debut.
Both Disney and Timbers have declined to give an exact reason for the departure.
