Numbers released recently by the Themed Entertainment Association show increases at both Disneyland Resort theme parks in 2014.
In 2014, the second full year since Cars Land and Buena Vista street opened, Disney California Adventure showed a 3 percent increase in attendance, up 255,000 visitors to 8.7 million. The park stayed in the number 10 spot for worldwide attendance figures.
Across the esplanade, Disneyland Park had a 3.5 percent increase in 2014, up 550,000 visitors to 16.7 million. Disneyland is number 3 in worldwide attendance.
The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, with 19.3 million guests, remained in the number 1 spot.
Attendance figures for other Southern California theme parks were also released.
Universal Studios Hollywood showed an increase of 11 percent, while Knott’s Berry Farm’s attendance remained stagnant.
Attendance at the struggling SeaWorld San Diego fell 12 percent and Six Flags Magic Mountain saw a 2 percent drop.
While theme parks don’t typically release their attendance figures, the numbers provided by the Themed Entertainment Association are widely accepted.
