After tests inside Launch Bay last year and at the D23 Expo in July, Disneyland is now testing its J4-K3 roaming droid in Tomorrowland.
For the first time this week, guests have reported seeing Jake, as he’s known, interacting with crowds and posing for pictures outside of the Launch Bay.
According to a Disneyland spokesperson, Jake will only be around for brief encounters this week as Disney tests new technology and gives Jake an opportunity to explore the world around him.
When the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion opens in 2019, it is expected to have many interactive elements, so there’s a good chance guests will be seeing the J4-K3 droid, or something like it, again.
