Despite the theme parks and resorts being closed right now, the teams at Disney’s Animal Kingdom continue to provide expert care to the creatures that live there. To that end, both Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge recently completed their accreditation with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) once again.
According to the AZA, less than 10% of the 2,800 licensed animal exhibitors around the country are accredited. The accreditation cannot be renewed and Disney must complete the entire application every five years.
Mr. Mark Penning, Vice President for Animals, Science and Environment at Disney Parks shared his thoughts about the achievement:
“AZA accreditation is the gold standard in animal care, and I’m incredibly proud of the entire Animals, Science and Environment Team for earning this stellar accomplishment.”
