As Walt Disney World continues to reconfigure theme park entrances, walkways, and security screening stations, it has become necessary to remove Disney’s Walk Around the World.
The personalized hexagonal bricks will be removed in phases, with those near the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center going away soon. When the bricks were originally purchased, Walt Disney World guaranteed that they would remain in place through 2011.
As the bricks cannot be removed individually for guests to take home, Disney is offering a commemorative version for purchase.
Guests should stop at City Hall in the Magic Kingdom or Guest Relations in Disney Springs to verify their brick. There they will receive a voucher that is good between now and August 31st that allows them to purchase ONE 6″ commemorative brick for the special price of $10 plus tax. Bricks are available at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. in the Magic Kingdom or the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs.
Guests that won’t be in the Orlando area can email [email protected] or call 407-828-2701 to verify their brick and receive a voucher good at shopDisney.com with which they can purchase ONE commemorative brick for $10 plus tax.
Also this spring, guests who did not originally sponsor a brick can get in on the action by purchasing their own customized commemorative brick. A 6″ brick is $29.99 plus tax and an 8″ brick is $49.99 plus tax. Ornaments will also be available soon. These bricks are also available at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., Marketplace Co-Op and online at shopDisney.com.
