During the Star Wars: Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, the trailer for The Rise of Skywalker debuted in front of the crowd as well as panel host Stephen Colbert, J.J. Abrams (Director), Kathleen Kennedy (President of Lucasfilm), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), and Naomi Ackie (making her debut to the franchise as Jannah).
Throughout the panel, we got little tidbits of info on The Rise of Skywalker, like the lightsaber that Rey inherits from Luke lives on, there won’t be anymore semi-naked Kylo Rens, and there will be plenty of new, practical effects and creatures! We also were introduced to new characters including BB-8’s new friend D-0!
After the trailer rolled, Ian McDiarmid took to the stage to have them roll the teaser trailer for a second time. The trailer features a look at the late Carrie Fisher along with a first look at Billy Dee Williams returning to the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and so much more.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theaters December 20, 2019!
