During the Star Wars: Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration, J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy were on hand to announce that the title will be Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The story for The Rise of Skywalker will not pick up right where the last movie ended, but it’s an adventure that the entire group will experience together. J.J. Abrams went on to praise the group dynamic of all the characters together in the movie and also confirmed, just like The Force Awakens, on The Rise of Skywalker they wanted to use as many practical effects in the film as possible to keep it real.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring the Skywalker saga to an official close and can be seen in theaters December 20, 2019!
