We’ve got our first look at another new float appearing in the brand-new Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World later this year! The sparkling new float is gorgeous and features Asha, Star, and Valentino from Disney’s WISH movie.
The parade will use cutting-edge technology to bring fresh stories of beloved characters to life, guided by the magic of the Blue Fairy. Expect to see favorites from Peter Pan, Encanto, Frozen, and more!
Disney’s WISH is set in the late Middle Ages on the fictional Mediterranean island of Rosas and explores how our deepest desires can shape our lives. In Rosas, every resident surrenders their greatest wish to the realm’s ruler, King Magnifico, a powerful sorcerer, upon turning 18. The king vows to safeguard these wishes and occasionally grants a select few. But is this truly a blessing, as King Magnifico claims? This question lies at the heart of the story, which weaves together a cast of intriguing characters.
Asha is the story’s 17-year-old heroine, described as a “quick-witted idealist.” Initially, she admires the charismatic King Magnifico and meets him when she interviews to become his apprentice. However, when the king exposes the darker side of his control over the wishes of Rosas’ people, Asha’s world is turned upside down.
The nonverbal, childlike wishing Star that descends from the sky in response to Asha’s wish is a lively, unpredictable burst of kinetic energy. Star’s boundless enthusiasm and fearless spirit inspire others to chase their dreams.
Asha’s lovable animal companion, Valentino the young goat, dons his dashing pajamas and gains the power of speech thanks to Star. Though still just a kid, Valentino sees himself as a wise adviser beyond his years. Like many of Disney’s most memorable sidekicks, he brings humor and heart to the story. Interestingly, during the film’s development, Valentino was originally envisioned as an older goat but gradually became younger as the concept evolved. Despite his youth, his “velvety tones” give the character a charming and humorous flair, enhanced by the playful touch of his voice actor.
