Governor Ron DeSantis Declares Public Health Emergency as Two Cases of Coronavirus Found in Florida

UPDATE Monday, March 2nd – 1:15 p.m.




Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis confirmed Sunday that two people in the state of Florida are the first to test “presumptively positive” for the coronavirus as he ordered health officials to declare a public health emergency surrounding the global spread of the coronavirus.

A statement released by DeSantis’s office said the cases involve a person in Manatee County and another in Hillsborough County.

The Florida Department of Public Health has set up a website with the latest information.
