Disney is continuing to blur the lines between its streaming platforms, and the latest update makes it easier for Hulu subscribers to bring everything into one place.
Starting now, select Hulu users can link their Hulu profiles directly to Disney+, allowing their watch history, watchlist, and personalized recommendations to carry over into the Disney+ app. The goal is simple. You open Disney+, and your Hulu viewing picks up right where you left off.
If you subscribe to Hulu through a bundle, the process is pretty straightforward. Just log into Disney+ using the same MyDisney account tied to your Hulu subscription. From there, you’ll be prompted to link your Hulu profile to an existing Disney+ profile. Once it’s connected, your viewing activity syncs automatically across both platforms.
After linking, users can also customize their profiles with a mix of Hulu and Disney+ avatars, adding a little personality to the experience.
Hulu content will show up in a few different places inside Disney+. You’ll start seeing recommendations that include Hulu titles in the “For You” section, and there’s now a dedicated Hulu hub accessible from the main navigation bar. That makes it easier to browse Hulu’s library without jumping between apps.
The biggest benefit here is continuity. Shows you were watching on Hulu will now appear in the “Continue Watching” row on Disney+, while anything saved to “My Stuff” on Hulu will show up in your Disney+ Watchlist. Once your profile is linked, you don’t have to repeat the process again.
Disney also says more features are on the way. A new live guide is expected to roll out soon, giving subscribers a way to browse live content, including ABC News Live and select Disney+ streams. Additional Hulu features, like Live TV and add-ons, are still staying in the Hulu app for now, but are expected to make their way to Disney+ over time.
For Hulu-only subscribers, there’s no extra cost to access Hulu content through Disney+ as long as the subscription is eligible. You’ll still have access to the standalone Hulu app as well, along with a limited selection of Disney+ and ESPN content inside Disney+.
The rollout for linking profiles will expand in the coming days and continue through the rest of the year.
