Beginning June 30th, Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will be offering a new The Lion King-inspired dining experience.
The evening includes a three-course menu celebrating Simba’s story as live musicians perform pieces from the film’s soundtrack.
The meal starts with an “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” appetizer that includes Young Cedar Creek clam malata, potatoes, pomegranate, and bone fish marrow. The dish is inspired by young Simba’s playfulness.
For your main course, “Be Prepared” to choose from two different entrees. The Bone-In Ribeye is served with hibiscus, nettles, and frebula, while the Lobster Sosatie comes with red shrimp, squid, mussels, and fragrant rice. This course reflects Simba’s courage to persevere after visiting the elephant graveyard.
Dessert, celebrates “Hakuna Matata,” as Simba grows up to learn how to be a successful leader. Caramelized orange and chocolate choux sit atop playful foliage.
A selection of friandeses top off the meal, as “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” invites you to reflect on the journey.
The Lion King Dining Experience will be available for a limited time during dinner at Jiko, in addition to the restaurant’s regular menu. The cost for the special prix fixe menu is $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Two different wine pairings are also available.
