Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant coming to Magic Kingdom?

Rumors have been spreading around the Internet for awhile about the possibility of Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom getting a new restaurant. WDW News Today says that information has been confirmed and a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is being planned for the area. “Skippers Cantina,” the rumored name for the eatery, will be located in the Adventureland Veranda, the building most recently used as a meet and greet location for Tinker Bell. The Adventureland Veranda began as a restaurant, back when the park opened in 1971, but closed in 1994 and has primarily been used for character meet and greets ever since.

According to the article, the restaurant’s storyline would “revolve around Jungle Cruise skippers being paid pretty poorly by the Jungle Navigation Company and needing to operate the restaurant to make a little more money.” The restaurant would follow in the footsteps of Be Our Guest and be a counter service lunch, with a table service dinner, with the hopes to open later this year, possibly in November.
