Kissimmee family arrested for Walt Disney World ticket scam

A Kissimmee family has been arrested for their involvement in a Walt Disney World ticket scam. Eileen Hightower, 50, and her adult children, Samuel Velasquez Jr. and Sabrina Velasquez, along with Hightower’s niece, Jennifer Cancel, pleaded guilty to the crime.

The family stole personal information, which they used to create fake drivers licenses and credit cards, which were then used to buy Disney tickets. They then sold the tickets to Kissimmee ticket brokers.

In just a few months, they bought and sold over $100,000 in theme parks tickets.

Senior U.S. District Judge G. Kendall Sharp sentenced each of them to at least three years in prison and they were ordered to pay $107,000 in restitution.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
