Thursday was a thrilling day for a local Little League team who recently won the World Series championship! This win marked the first time a baseball team from Florida has won the Little League World Series title, and it only seemed fitting to celebrate the accomplishment at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
The Lake Mary All-Stars were crowned Little League World Series champions in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, after a come-from-behind win over Chinese Taipei 2-1 in extra innings in the title game. Their festive day Thursday at Magic Kingdom was reminiscent of professional athletes’ many celebratory visits to Disney Parks after their teams won major NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL titles.
First, the players and coaches joined Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, all dressed in their baseball uniforms, for a colorful parade in front of thousands of guests at Magic Kingdom Park. How exciting! You can practically feel the energy looking at the image below as the team floats down Main Street, U.S.A.!
Next, they joined the outdoor piano player at the baseball-themed restaurant Casey’s Corner for an impromptu rendition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Afterward, the players and coaches got to hang out with their families. They spent the rest of the day interacting with some of their favorite Disney characters and experiencing many of the park’s most popular attractions, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Look at those smiles!
As a parent, seeing these kids’ happy and proud faces warms my heart. I love that they could enjoy such a fun-filled day as a reward for their incredible win! I especially love that they’re old enough to remember the experience for the rest of their lives!
