Magic Kingdom waitress sues over lost income

Jasmin Sandoval, a server at the Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom from 2011 to 2015, is suing Walt Disney World over lost wages.

Sandoval claims she spent over 20 percent of her day washing dishes, restocking or performing other tasks for which she wouldn’t receive tips, while still earning the lower wages of a server.

Tipped workers are typically paid less per hour, as low as $5.03 per hour in Florida.  The minimum wage in Florida for a non-tipped job is $8.05 per hour.

Sandoval is seeking back pay, interest and legal fees, plus damages totaling over $15,000.

Disney is “reviewing the allegations contained in the complaint and will respond in court.”
