New: 5th Chapter of Disney’s ‘ZOMBIES’ Greenlit for Disney+

Hey, friends! Get ready to head back to Seabrook because Disney has officially greenlit ZOMBIES 5 for Disney+ and Disney Channel. It feels like just yesterday my kids were meeting Zed and Addison for the first time in 2018, and now the franchise is gearing up for its fifth instalment. Even better, Malachi Barton and Freya Skye are set to return as Victor and Nova, with fan favorites Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly stepping in as executive producers. Trevor Tordjman will also be back as Bucky, which longtime fans will absolutely love.

This next chapter picks up after ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires, where peace between the Daywalkers and Vampires is still fresh and fragile. Enter a trio of mysterious mermaids who arrive in Rayburn with a persuasive siren song and plenty of unanswered questions. Victor and Nova must once again bring their groups together to protect the harmony they fought so hard to build. Production begins this spring in New Zealand, with an official title still to come. I happen to be traveling through New Zealand this (US) Spring, so I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for filming.

One of the things I adore most about this franchise is how it carries forward the Disney musical tradition so many of us grew up with. From High School Musical to Descendants, these stories inspired a whole generation of kids to sing loudly, dance proudly, and celebrate what makes each of us unique. Now, years after ZOMBIES first debuted, it’s wonderful to see that spirit continue for a new group of fans. The music, the choreography, and those big, joyful ensemble numbers remain front and center, reminding viewers that community and acceptance never go out of style. And I’ll admit, I’ve been known to sing along in the car to some of those originals once or twice myself.

The ZOMBIES franchise has grown into one of Disney Channel’s most successful originals, with millions of views across cable and streaming and a devoted fanbase that shows up every time. With milestone anniversaries for beloved Disney Channel classics happening this year and even more musical projects on the horizon, it truly feels like a celebration of everything that makes these stories special. If you need a refresher before the new movie arrives, the entire ZOMBIES collection is already streaming on Disney+, ready for your next family movie night.
