If you’ve spent any time planning a Walt Disney World vacation, you’ve probably heard the phrase “Free Dining.” For many Disney fans, it’s one of the most exciting promotions the resort offers. But what exactly does it mean?
Scroll to the bottom of this article for details on the Walt Disney World Free Dining offer for Disney Visa Cardholders and how you can receive an exclusive Disney eGift Card when you book your vacation with Dreams Unlimited Travel.
Free Dining is a special offer that allows eligible guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel to receive one of Walt Disney World’s prepaid dining plans at no additional cost when booking a vacation package that meets certain requirements. Instead of paying separately for meals throughout the trip, guests receive a set number of meal and snack credits based on the number of nights of their Disney Resort stay that can be used at participating restaurants across the resort. The caveat for some is that they must pay regular hotel rates. Sometimes, this works in your favor, especially if everyone in your traveling party is a Disney adult (ages 10 and up).
Walt Disney World currently offers two primary dining plans: the Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan, which includes table-service meals.
Quick-Service Dining Plan

The Quick-Service Dining Plan is perfect for guests who would rather enjoy flexible, casual dining during their vacation. Instead of making reservations for table-service restaurants, this plan focuses on quick-service dining locations where guests can choose to order at a register with a cast member or through mobile ordering in the My Disney Experience app and then find a seat once they’ve grabbed their food.
With this plan, each guest receives two quick-service meals and one snack or nonalcoholic beverage per night of their stay, along with a refillable resort mug that can be used at beverage stations at Disney Resort hotels. Guests ages 21 and older with valid identification can substitute for beer, wine and cocktails.
A quick-service meal typically includes an entrรฉe and a drink, and there are hundreds of locations across Walt Disney World where these credits can be redeemed.
This option tends to work well for families who plan to spend most of their time in the theme parks and don’t want to structure their day around dining reservations.
Disney Dining Plan (Table-Service)

The standard Disney Dining Plan adds a little more structure and a lot more variety to your meals.
With this plan, guests receive one quick-service meal, one table-service meal, and one snack per person for each night of their stay, plus the same refillable resort mug.
Table-service meals take place at sit-down restaurants with full wait service. These experiences can include everything from classic Disney character dining to signature restaurants and themed locations inside the parks and resorts.

A typical table-service meal includes an entrรฉe, dessert (at lunch or dinner), and a beverage, or it may be a buffet or family-style meal depending on the restaurant.
For many guests, this plan is a way to guarantee at least one relaxing sit-down meal each day while still keeping the convenience of quick-service dining for the rest of the trip.
It is important to note that gratuity is not included in the Disney Dining Plan. It is customary in the U.S. to add a gratuity of 18 to 20%, depending on the service you experienced. Some people pay this in cash or credit/debit card, or you can charge it to your room using your MagicBand.
