If you’re planning to dress up as your favorite character at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event next month, Disney has announced another activity to add to your schedule.
D23 announced that its popular official Cosplay Meet-Ups and Photo Shoots are returning for this year’s event, giving Disney fans a chance to gather with others who share their favorite characters and fandoms.
One of my favorite things at any D23 event is to meander around the show floor in the convention center. You never know who you will run into. One moment, you might pass Mickey Mouse, and the next, you’ll be face-to-face with Darth Vader, Loki, or a group of Haunted Mansion characters. The creativity people show at these events is nothing shy of amazing.
These organized meet-ups are a fun way to see even more of that.
The gatherings will once again be held at the Grand Plaza Fountain outside the Anaheim Convention Center. Whether you’re dressing up as a Disney Princess, a Marvel hero, a Star Wars character, or something inspired by the Disney Parks, you’re invited to join in on the fun. And if costumes aren’t your thing, it’s still fun to stop by and watch. Some of the best cosplay photos from D23 seem to come out of these meet-ups every year. I’m not much of a costume person myself, but I might give Disney Bounding a try at this year’s event just for fun.
This year’s schedule includes dedicated times for Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, Disney Princesses, Heroes and Villains, Disney Parks and Games, plus a couple of All the Worlds of Disney meet-ups where every fandom is welcome.
Organized meet-ups like these encourage attendees to take photos, admire each other’s costumes, and share their love for Disney with other fans. These moments can be some of the most memorable parts of the weekend.
