The Disney Park Blog recently announced details concerning the new Play Disney Parks app. Guests visiting Disneyland and Walt Disney World can start using the app on June 30. The Play Disney Parks app is available for free on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Guests ages 13 and over can sign into their Disney account to play the app in the parks. Waiting in line for certain attractions will unlock new games and experiences on the app. For example, while waiting in line for Toy Story Mania! the “Playset Party” game will be unlocked, if you are in line for Peter Pan’s Flight than you can play “Off to Neverland,” and over at Space Mountain try competing in “Rocket Race.” There is even an interactive game while you wait in line for the brand-new attraction Slinky Dog Dash called “Andy’s Boardgame Blast!”
Apple Music subscribers can also use the app to listen to “a curated audio experience featuring official playlists inspired by beloved theme park lands, attractions, and characters.” Additionally, Apple Music subscribers can add the music they are listening to in the parks directly to their Apple Music library to continue listening after they leave.
Disney promises that this is just the beginning of the app’s functionality and that guests can get excited with how it is being planned to be used in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
*Disney stipluated: “Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations, and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first. Some features require separate theme park admission.”
