UPDATE: Here’s a look at the overlay on its first day at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!
Disney revealed today during the Walt Disney Studios presentation at Destination D23 that both TRON Lightcycle/Run at Walt Disney World Resort and TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disney Resort will be marking the debut of the new film Tron: Ares with a fresh overlay on their attractions.
Instead of blue and orange, the ride will surround you with bright red and orange lights as you race through twisting tunnels, feeling the wind and speed of the Lightcycle.

In Tron: Ares, bold red tones replace the Grid’s familiar blue, while music from Nine Inch Nails powers the ride with pulsing energy, creating a fast, futuristic mix of light, sound, and speed.

Disney PhotoPass also shared a look at what the on-ride photo will look like when the overlay debuts.
Guests can experience the new Tron: Ares ride overlay for a limited time in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World beginning September 15th, and in Shanghai Disneyland starting September 16th.
Tron: Ares releases in theaters Oct. 10, 2025, the third film and next installment in Disney’s iconic Tron sci-fi franchise. Ares is a powerful and self-aware program sent from the digital realm into the real world for a mission that could change both forever. Tron: Ares is a mind-bending collision of technology, identity, and reality.
Jeff Bridges returns to star in Tron: Ares alongside Jared Leto as Ares, with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan. The film was directed by Joachim Rønning, known for helming Disney action-adventure hits like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
