Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit returns to the Downtown Disney District on August 29, 2025, kicking off a family-friendly scavenger hunt that runs through October 31. The seasonal activity invites guests to search for Disney-themed pumpkins hidden around shops and restaurants, mark their discoveries on a map, then redeem the completed map for a keepsake prize, while supplies last. You can enjoy the experience in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. However, you don’t need a park ticket to join in at Downtown Disney.
How it works is simple. Purchase an activity map at select Downtown Disney merchandise locations. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore. Each pumpkin features a distinct character design, which helps younger kids stay engaged while older fans try to spot the trickier placements above doorways or in display windows. Once you finish, return to a redemption location (listed on your map) to collect your prize. Disney states that “everyone’s a winner,” so you receive the keepsake even if a few pumpkins slip away from you.
If you plan to park-hop, you will find separate maps for sale for each area. Downtown Disney remains the most flexible option for locals and day visitors who want seasonal fun without the need to buy a park ticket.
Expect festive décor and limited-time food throughout the district (check out the massive Halloween Foodie Guide HERE if you haven’t already), which pairs well with an early evening pumpkin hunt. Disney’s fall announcement also teases added Downtown Disney entertainment during the season, giving you more reasons to linger after completing your map. Check hours and availability before you go, and purchase maps early in the day on busy weekends, as supplies of prizes are limited.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit starts August 29th. Bring comfy shoes and a sharp eye. Then hunt, sticker, and redeem. Simple, quick, and fun.
