Redesigned Grand Californian Hotel Pool Area Opens

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is in the middle of the most extensive renovation since it opened in 2001. In April, guests began experiencing some of the new rooms at the hotel, and now, with summer in full swing, the updated pool area has opened.

Each of the three pool areas are slightly different, but all keep with the arts and crafts style of the hotel, including hand-laid stone work.

Situated just behind the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in California Adventure, the Redwood Pool features organic-inspired materials, with brown flagstone and multicolored brick bands. The pool includes a 90-foot-long waterslide that curves around a redwood stump.

The Fountain Pool includes a new urn-shaped fountain as its centerpiece, replacing the original turtle fountain, which guests will find in the nearby garden. Golden flagstone surrounds the pool.

For adults, the quiet Mariposa Pool is the place to be, with its private cabanas that are available for half or full day rentals. The pool deck in this area features bluestone in a relaxing rectangular pattern.

Renovations are still in progress on the remaining guest rooms and other public areas of the resort, with completion expected by the end of the year.
