Update 7:30pm EST 12/23/16: Fisher’s brother, Todd, has spoken with the Associated Press and reports that she is in stable condition at this time.
Update 11:30pm EST 12/23/16: According to Variety, Fisher’s brother Todd was misquoted when he said Fisher was in “stable condition.” Todd gave a phone interview to Variety, saying, “She’s in the ICU and everybody’s praying for her. There’s nothing new from the doctors. There’s nothing new at all. … There’s no good news or bad news.”
Original story: Actress Carrie Fisher has reportedly suffered a massive heart attack while on a plane Friday, December 23.
Fisher, 60, was flying from London to Los Angeles when the incident occurred about 15 minutes before landing at LAX. Fellow passenger Anna Akana tweeted “Don’t know how else to process this but Carrie Fisher stopped breathing on the flight home. Hope she’s gonna be OK.”
E! News reports that other passengers, including an EMT, began CPR and continued until the plane landed. An ambulance was waiting on the ground and immediately transferred Fisher to a nearby hospital.
Fisher is known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise.
