Actor Ryan Reynolds let it slip recently that not only is there a Deadpool 3 in pre-production, but that the sequel will be produced by Marvel Studios.
Reynolds, who plays the title character, was on Live with Kelly and Ryan recently and shared the information when asked about a third film.
“Yeah, we’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”
The first two films were produced by 20th Century Fox, however with Disney’s acquisition of Fox assets back in March, Deadpool and the X-Men movies can now become part of the MCU.
Deadpool (and his potty mouth) held the record for most money earned by an R-rated movie until Joker was released earlier this year. What Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team does with the super hero remains to be seen, however Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that they have no intention of taming the character.
