In addition to announcing the July 18th opening date for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure this morning, Disney also released the name of the Spider-Man attraction and a huge amount of information about it.
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is set to open with the new land on July 18th. The interactive experience will feature Tom Holland reprising his film role.
Guests will don 3D glasses as they team up with Spidey to help capture Spider-Bots who threaten to take over Avengers Campus.
In addition to the 3D effects and virtual environments, the attraction will feature physical sets. The family-friendly attraction will detect body movements and gestures, letting guests reach out their hands and sling webs like Spider-Man.
Brent Strong, executive creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the experience:
"We always start with wish fulfillment when we're creating an attraction. What is that thing that you've always wanted to do? What is that power that you've always wanted to have?
Believe it or not, with nothing in your hand, you get to reach out and you will sling webs on this ride.
Sixty times a second we are able to determine where a guest's hand is, their shoulders, their elbows, and even their wrists. We're able to track the motion of your body so that when you reach out a sling a web, wince we know where your eyes are and we know where your hands are, we can render a web-a virtual web coming right out of the palm of your hand"
There will be no height requirement for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
