Now that the buzz about Star Wars: The Force Awakens has died down slightly, Disney has released a small bit of information about the next films the franchise will release.
Filming has begun on Star Wars: Episode VIII, due out for release on December 15, 2017. Rian Johnson is directing the film, which was originally set for release in May 2017, but was recently pushed back.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of a set of stand-alone Star Wars films, is nearly done filming and Disney Chair Bob Iger says, “We absolutely love what we’ve seen so far.” Rogue One is a “heist story about Rebel plans to steal the blueprints for the original Death Star” and is due out December 16, 2016.
