Stitch is crashing Christmas this year, and seriously, was there ever a more appropriate character to bring a little chaos to the holidays?
runDisney has revealed the themes for its 2026 Virtual 12Ks of Christmas, and this year, they’re becoming the Virtual 12Ks of Stitchmas. The virtual event includes three different 4K races that can be completed throughout December, each with its own holiday spin on Stitch.
The Cute & Fluffy Virtual 4K might win the award for cutest artwork right out of the gate. Stitch and Angel are decked out in Christmas pajamas, Santa hats, and some pretty fantastic reindeer and snowman slippers. The Mele Kalikimaka Virtual 4K takes Stitch home for a Hawaiian Christmas, although he appears to have somehow gotten himself stuck inside a Christmas tree along the way. Sounds about right.
Then there’s An ‘Ohana Wonderland Virtual 4K, which is all about spending the holidays with the people you love. Stitch is bundled up in a scarf and happily playing in the snow for that one.
Runners can participate in the individual virtual races or take on all three as part of the runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Stitchmas Challenge. The challenge can be completed anytime between December 1 and December 31, 2026, and because everything is virtual, you decide where and when you want to complete those miles.
Those who sign up for the entire challenge will receive four commemorative finisher medals, including one for each 4K and a challenge medal. The $185 registration also includes a themed shoe ornament, challenge trading pin, Stitch Santa hat, four vinyl stickers, gummy Christmas tree candy, Twinings Holiday Tea, and digital race materials.
It looks like Stitch will spend Christmas doing what Stitch does best: getting himself completely tangled up in something he probably shouldn’t have touched in the first place.
General registration opens October 6, 2026, at 10 a.m. Eastern, with the full Stitchmas Challenge priced at $185 (Price includes a 6.6% platform service fee. Applicable sales tax will be added based on the guest’s address).
You’ll have all of December to complete the 12Ks, and walking absolutely counts. Frankly, a virtual Christmas race that can be completed wherever you want, whenever you want, while earning four Stitch medals sounds like a pretty good excuse to get outside for a few miles between Christmas cookies.
