The Wincome Group has filed plans to build a $225 million luxury hotel near the Anaheim Convention Center on the spot the Anabella Hotel currently stands. This is the second luxury hotel proposed by the Wincome Group and the third announced in the last few months that are planned for the Anaheim area.
Developers have begun to take advantage of an incentive that was passed by the Anaheim City Council in June that gives them back much of the bed taxes collected from guests at any new AAA four-diamond rated hotels for up to 20 years.
The new plans by the Wincome Group’s FJS Inc. include a 634-room hotel, plus retail space on Katella Avenue and meeting/ballroom space.
Wincome’s Good Hope International has proposed a luxury hotel on the site of the current Anaheim Plaza Hotel & Suites and another developer plans to build a JW Marriott Hotel near the Anaheim GardenWalk.
In addition to the Anabella site, Wincome would also need to obtain a parking lot that is being used as part of the construction of the Convention Center expansion, which is expected to be completed in mid-2017. Negotiations with the Anaheim City Council have already begun.
Approval of the new project by the Planning Commission won’t happen until late spring of next year, with the Anaheim City Council having final approval.
Construction would likely begin in 2018.
