Tokyo Disney Parks to Close for Two Weeks in March Amid Coronavirus Concerns Tokyo-DisneySea

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. has announced that Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea will both be closed for two weeks beginning this Saturday until March 15, 2020, due to the threat of the Coronavirus infection spreading in Japan. This closure will have all of the Disney theme parks in Asia temporarily closed.

Oriental Land posted on its website:

We plan to reopen on March 16, but we will make an announcement after keeping close contact with relevant institutions.

Additionally, Universal Studios Japan is closing down during the same period.

Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland have remained closed for over a month and the company warned of a negative impact on its second-quarter results.

According to CNBC, the company stated on an earnings call back on February 5 that “closure of the Shanghai park could impact operating profit by about $135 million if closed for 2 months.”
