The Walt Disney Studios currently holds the top 5 spots for highest-grossing films at the domestic box office for 2019.
According to Variety, the studio crossed the all-time record for global ticket sales for a single studio surpassing its own 2016 record of $7.61 billion with $7.67 billion worldwide after this weekend. They are also the first studio to hit the $5 billion mark internationally with approximately $5.09 billion to date.
The significance of the studio’s achievement is major as it’s only July. Frozen 2, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are all due out before the end of the year.
